Dive into one of Costa Rica’s most spectacular underwater destinations. Caño Island Biological Reserve is famous for its clear blue water, protected coral formations, volcanic rock reefs, and abundant marine life.
This full-day scuba experience includes two guided dives, giving certified divers the chance to explore a vibrant marine ecosystem where you may encounter sea turtles, rays, barracudas, moray eels, white-tip reef sharks, colorful reef fish, and, depending on the season, dolphins or whales during the boat ride.
Your adventure begins in Uvita with check-in at our office. From there, our team will guide you to the entrance of Marino Ballena National Park for parking and beach access. After a short walk to the shore, you’ll board the boat directly from the beach and travel approximately 29 miles offshore to Caño Island.
With certified guides, quality dive equipment, safety instructions, snacks, water, lunch, and park entrance included, this tour is designed for adventurous travelers who want to experience Costa Rica below the surface.
Good to know: This tour requires good health, basic physical ability, and either current scuba certification or participation as an introductory dive accompanied by an instructor. Guests must be able to board a moving boat from the beach.

Expectations
Guests will arrive at our property for check-in. Free on-site parking available. Our guide will then direct guests to the parking area at the main entrance of Parque Nacional Marina Ballena. From the park entrance, there is a short walk of approximately 5 minutes to the beach, where guests will board the tour boat directly from the beach. The tour boat will travel about 29 miles offshore to Caño Island.
Pre-dive protocol: Guests must have current scuba certification (Open Water or higher) or participate as an introductory dive accompanied by an instructor. Guests must not have consumed alcohol or flown within the previous 12 hours, and should not dive with a cold, nasal congestion, ear infection, severe asthma, heart problems, epilepsy, pregnancy, or other medical concerns without first consulting our team.
Post-dive protocol: Guests should not fly within 12 to 24 hours after diving, should hydrate well before and after, and should immediately report any unusual symptoms such as joint pain, dizziness, tingling, or difficulty breathing.
Safety: This adventure tour requires good health and physical condition. It includes a short walk and boarding a moving boat from the beach. It is not recommended for pregnant guests, people with physical limitations, or people with back or neck problems due to the potentially bumpy nature of the boat ride.
